About Amada

Amada was founded in 1946 in Japan by Isamu Amada and initially focused on manufacturing band saw blades and cutting equipment. Over the following decades, the company expanded rapidly into sheet metal fabrication machinery, becoming one of the most influential manufacturers in the global fabrication industry.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Amada established a major presence in North America through Amada America, introducing advanced punching, laser cutting, and bending equipment to the U.S. fabrication market. By the 1990s, Amada machines were widely used in fabrication shops producing parts for electronics, automotive manufacturing, construction equipment, and consumer products.

Today, Amada remains one of the most important manufacturers of sheet metal fabrication technology. The company is particularly well known for its laser cutting systems, press brakes, turret punch presses, and integrated fabrication automation systems.

Because Amada equipment is widely installed across fabrication facilities worldwide, used Amada machines remain highly sought after in the secondary machinery market.

Amada Laser Cutting Systems

Amada has long been a major developer of laser cutting technology for sheet metal fabrication. The company produces both CO₂ laser cutting systems and fiber laser cutting machines, each suited to different fabrication requirements.

Amada CO₂ Lasers

CO₂ lasers were widely used in fabrication shops throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and many Amada CO₂ laser machines remain in production today.

One of the most recognizable Amada laser machine families is the LC Series, which includes machines such as:

  • Amada LC 1212 (1990s – early 2000s)
  • Amada LC 2415 (1990s – 2010s)
  • Amada LC 3015 (1990s – 2010s)

In the LC naming convention, the letters identify the machine as part of Amada’s laser cutting platform, while the numbers often refer to the machine’s sheet capacity and cutting format. For example, 3015 typically indicates a 3 meter by 1.5 meter cutting table, which is a common sheet size used in fabrication.

Another widely recognized CO₂ platform is the FO Series, including machines such as:

  • FO 3015 (early 2000s – mid 2010s)
  • FO MII Series

These machines represented a newer generation of CO₂ laser technology designed for improved cutting speed and reliability.

Amada Fiber Lasers

In more recent years, fiber lasers have become the dominant technology for sheet metal cutting due to faster cutting speeds, lower maintenance requirements, and improved efficiency on thin materials.

Amada fiber laser platforms include machines such as:

  • ENSIS Series (2010s – present)
  • REGIUS Series (2010s – present)

The ENSIS Series introduced variable beam control technology designed to allow a single laser source to cut both thin and thick materials efficiently.

Amada Tube Lasers

Amada also manufactures tube laser cutting systems designed for processing round tube, square tube, rectangular tube, and structural profiles.

Machines in the LCG and FLCA tube laser platforms have been widely used in fabrication shops producing structural components, furniture frames, and industrial equipment.

Tube lasers allow manufacturers to reduce secondary machining operations by producing finished parts directly from tubing stock.

Amada CNC Punch Machines

Amada is one of the most recognized manufacturers of CNC turret punch presses, which remain an essential technology in many sheet metal fabrication operations.

One of the most widely used punch press platforms is the EM Series, which includes machines such as:

  • Amada EM2510 (1990s – 2000s)
  • Amada EM3610 (2000s – present)

The EM naming convention identifies the machine as part of Amada’s electric servo-driven punch press platform.

Another widely used family is the VIPROS Series, which includes machines such as:

  • VIPROS 255 (1990s – early 2000s)

These machines were widely used in fabrication facilities producing sheet metal components requiring large numbers of punched features.

Amada Combo Punch Machines

Combination punch-laser machines allow fabrication shops to perform both punching and laser cutting operations within the same machine.

Amada developed several machines capable of performing both processes, often integrating punching and laser cutting to reduce material handling and increase production efficiency.

These machines are particularly useful in fabrication environments producing complex sheet metal parts with both punched forms and laser-cut profiles.

Amada Press Brakes

Amada press brakes are widely used for bending sheet metal components. The company manufactures both hydraulic press brakes and electric servo press brakes designed for precision bending operations.

One of the most widely recognized Amada press brake families is the HFE Series, which has been produced since the 1990s.

Common machines include:

  • HFE 80-25
  • HFE 100-3
  • HFE 170-3

In the HFE naming convention, the numbers typically represent the tonnage and bending length of the machine.

More recent press brake platforms include the HG Series, introduced during the 2010s. These machines incorporate modern control systems, improved accuracy, and automation capabilities.

Amada also produces electric press brakes, which provide high-speed precision bending and energy-efficient operation.

Amada Shears

Amada manufactures both hydraulic shears and mechanical shears, which are commonly used to cut sheet metal prior to fabrication operations.

Machines such as those from the M Series hydraulic shears have been widely used in fabrication facilities for decades.

Shearing equipment is often used alongside lasers and press brakes as part of a complete sheet metal fabrication workflow.

Amada Band Saws

Amada also produces industrial band saws designed for cutting bar stock, structural materials, and metal components prior to machining or fabrication.

Machines such as those in the HA Series horizontal band saws are commonly used in machine shops and fabrication facilities.

Band saws remain an important part of material preparation before parts move into machining or fabrication processes.

Why Buyers Look for Used Amada Machines

Buyers searching for used Amada machines are often looking for fabrication equipment that offers:

  • strong brand reputation in sheet metal fabrication
  • reliable laser cutting technology
  • widely supported press brake platforms
  • durable turret punch presses
  • proven machine families with large installed bases

Another important reason Amada machines perform well in search traffic is that buyers frequently search by specific model family, such as LC 3015 lasers, HFE press brakes, or EM turret punches.

Because of this, including these model names and machine families helps buyers quickly determine whether a machine fits their production requirements.
